Dharma Rain - Dharma Camp

Letter to Campers

January 23, 2013

Hello Campers and Family,

It's that time again! Our seventeenth Dharma Camp is coming up soon. Please take a moment to consider your summer plans. We hope Mandala on the Mountain is part of them. Time after time it has proved to be an excellent opportunity for youth to discover something about themselves, their friends, and the Dharma.

Long days full of laughter, swimming, art, sports, activities, skits and songs are all basically predictable. If you know something about this camp, you might guess that it also involves having real conversations with new friends, trying meditation, chanting and silence, building relationships and community, learning about Buddhism, finding out something more about yourself and what you are really capable of. If you have been to Mandala on the Mountain before, you remember that this all takes place in an environment of mutual respect, care, and joyous delight. But there is also something else… So come join us and see what will happen this time around.

Like last year, Mandala on the Mountain will be held amongst Camp Adams’ woods and streams. Camp Adams is about an hour from Portland, near Molalla.

The dates for this year are July 14-20, 2013 for all campers.

Click here to fill out a registration form. Multiple youth from one family need multiple application forms. Notice all the forms have been combined so you only have to fill out one form for each young person. Please fill out all the information.

Early registration closes May 1st. For the past several years, more people have wanted to attend camp than we were able to accommodate. Therefore, we will give out the available spaces on May 1st, so please get your registrations and the $25 deposit sent in before then. After May 1st the prices will go up, and there is no guarantee that a space will be available.

The prices have changed for families who are not members of either Dharma Rain or ZCO. A $25 deposit is due with the registration, and is included in the cost. Click here for membership information.

If you have not attended Mandala on the Mountain in the past, there will be an interview so that we can make sure that this camp will be a good fit for you or your child, and vice versa. This can be done either in person or over the phone. Please contact us to arrange an appointment. Transportation to camp can be arranged from area airports or train stations for youth coming from greater distances.

Confirmation letters will go out in early May. The confirmation letter will include a map to Camp Adams, a list of what to bring, and other hints for camp.

A limited number of partial scholarships may be available to those who register early and who have been to camp at least once before. Please consider a donation to the scholarship fund, to enable a less-priveleged youth to attend camp. If you are interested in donating for this, you can do it on-line with your registration, or just send a check to:
