In June the Center rented a Forest Service cabin at just under 6000 feet in elevation in the Umpqua National
Forest for a men's retreat. The timing was perfect, as we dodged a major heat wave in Willamette Valley of Oregon.
Besides hiking, campfires, and other fun, there were readings of Hongzhi's Guidepost of Silent Illumination,
Guidepost for the Hall of Pure Bliss, and Shitou's Song of the Grass-Roof Hermitage. Left: Todd Fiefel
and Steve Faddah Wolf. Right: Kakumyo Lowe and Faddah.

There was an outdoor wood cook-stove that served well for most of the cooking, augmenting the use of camp stoves.
Kenryu Binns (below, left) organized the retreat, and served as Tenzo, earning kudos from all attending.
