Dharma Rain Zen Center - service
Other Meditations and Services
Think about joining us for early morning practice. Morning zazen
Wednesday–Saturday
is from 6:30–7:30am, followed by a short
service. There is a posture adjustment bell at 7am. It is an “open” sitting, which means you are welcome to
come in and leave at any point.
Wednesday–Friday
morning services alternate among various of the full morning service chants,
or the Kanzeon
Universal Gateway chapter
of
the Lotus Sutra.
Saturday morning services are listed as “Dharani Chants.” Each
week offers one of several different services. The dharanis
are energetic chants, some with syncopated rhythms, so if you haven't
experienced them, please join us for something a little different. The schedule
is the same as weekday mornings.
Tuesday and Friday evenings there is zazen at the Dharma House beginning at
7pm. On Fridays and some Tuesdays there are two 30-minute periods of zazen
separated by 10 minutes of kinhin, and followed by Vespers, a sung service
that lasts about 10 minutes. On Tuesdays when seminary classes are held, there
is only one period of zazen, from 7-7:30pm.
Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings are described here.
This is the regular schedule, though
it can change depending on time of year, retreats and other events. Please
keep checking the calendar to make sure events are
happening as planned.
